Learn More

Shannon Bellamy

Shannon has centered her career around helping others and advocating for the environment. After graduating with a dual degree in Biological Systems Engineering and Natural Resources & Environmental Conservation, Shannon set out to find ways to use her knowledge to help others. In doing so, Shannon learned to use her technical background and communication skills to help others take advantage of new opportunities to decarbonize and improve energy efficiency. Shannon has spent the past 5 years on this front helping local governments, nonprofits, community stakeholders and homeowners across the Northeast. Today, Shannon is thrilled to be at Abode working with Airbnb on their first ever Home Energy Efficiency grant program in the U.S.!

In her free time, Shannon enjoys spending time with friends, family and her dog, Buddy. You can find her outside hiking, camping, hammocking and refining her wildlife identification skills.

Hannah Martin

Hannah graduated from Northeastern University in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Law and Public Policy. While an undergrad at Northeastern, Hannah interned with MassCEC and McKinsey & Co. After graduating, Hannah joined Abode as an Energy Conservation Communications Specialist and has since transitioned into the full-time permanent position of Operations Support Associate, helping customers and contractors navigate utility energy efficiency programs.

Hannah’s main areas of interest are environmental ethics, sustainable agriculture, legislative reform, and decarbonization. She’s an avid backpacker and Appalachian Trail section hiker and reader of memoirs and historical biographies, and enjoys taking art classes at the MFA and volunteering at local farms.

Katie Langlais

Katie has over 20 years of customer service experience including prior experience in the Mass Save Program and the New Hampshire Saves program. Katie has a passion for providing a positive customer service experience, and implements that passion when interacting with both residents and contractors in utility energy efficiency programs.

Outside of work Katie is a wife and mother who loves to inspire women to be strong and grow their self worth. She also enjoys arts and crafts, camping, weight lifting, and spending time with her family and pets.

Seth Allshouse

Field Operations Manager

Having remodeled dozens of houses and worked on hundreds of theater productions as a builder, Seth excels at putting the small pieces together to complete projects. Finding the creative solutions that allow all the varying components to come together as envisioned in the form of a cost-effective weatherization retrofit is what Seth helps contractors do with Abode. Whether it’s adjusting recommendations to accommodate program guidelines or identifying better ways to tackle difficult structures, Seth takes a methodical approach to ensuring homes are treated the right way.

Beyond Abode, Seth continues to remodel homes and regularly enjoys a good hike with his wife, noting that some of the longest, most difficult trails are the most rewarding once it’s complete.

Dave Boettcher

PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER

Bringing his passion for big adventure, Dave launched Abode to serve New England families and utilities and make communities more energy efficient. With years of experience as a program administrator and later as a home performance contractor, Dave develops and implements programs that serve all stakeholders in a balanced and equitable way. He has built a team of industry experts who embrace Abode’s potential and share his commitment to building a company based on integrity, transparency, and collaboration.

Regardless of the season, Dave can be found hiking through the New England woods with his wife and kids. He’s always happy to reminisce about hiking the Appalachian Trail, and he’s the only person on the team that can properly fit and tune in skis and snowboards.

Kristin Dupre

VP Strategy & Development

Bringing a decade of experience building and managing energy efficiency, demand response, and electric vehicle programs, Kristin is focused on developing new programs for Abode. With the broader lens of electrification, she is building the resources and partnerships that will allow Abode to provide impactful services as we focus on decarbonization. Kristin lives on Cape Cod where she spends as much time as possible at the beach walking her dog, paddle boarding, kayaking, and soaking up the sun. She recently took up fishing and so welcomes advice.

Travis Estes

Chief Operating Officer

Supporting team growth and enabling success are key drivers for Travis. With nearly a decade of experience in building performance, he brings a perspective that is grounded in community development, seeing each home as part of a system. Working throughout New England in multiple efficiency and renewable programs, he has supported many teams providing a wide variety of services, including community outreach, energy assessments and weatherization, residential solar, and C&I financing. Prior to his career shift into building performance, Travis was an English teacher in Oklahoma and a US Peace Corps volunteer in Zambia with his wife. Out of the office, Travis spends most weekends hiking or biking with his family, taking many pictures along the way.

Jeffrey Lissack

VP Administration & Finance

Jeff's early years in the energy/environment space included management consulting to electric utilities, securing financing for the Boston Harbor clean-up, and negotiating public/private partnerships to make municipal recycling economically sustainable. After playing a variety of executive roles for venture-backed enterprises in the high-tech, education and life science industries, Jeff returned to his sustainability roots first leading talent development for Next Step Living and then spearheading development of New England's first long-duration flywheel energy storage plant. At Abode, Jeff focuses on strengthening our back-office operations (Finance, HR, IT, Legal) to help increase our impact as we grow. When not at work, Jeff enjoys getting out as much as possible with his wife, teenage daughter, and dog on the North Shore's beaches and trails.

Dan Friend

Contractor Support Lead

Dan has worked in Energy Efficiency for many years. He has experience with various programs including low-income weatherization, Mass Save weatherization, and the Commercial & Industrial program. These experiences, along with time spent working in Information Technology, have enabled Dan to facilitate the work of contractors by responding to their questions and requests, as well as reviewing weatherization projects.

When he’s not at Abode, Dan enjoys gardening, swimming, fishing, yoga, hiking, bicycling and kayaking. He’s an enthusiastic home composter, and is always on the hunt for a challenging opponent in the game Words with Friends™.

Christopher Haringa

Senior Program Manager

Having worked and volunteered at home and abroad in the energy efficiency and environmental policy sectors, Christopher brings a broad range of experience and knowledge to the team at Abode. Between years as a building science analyst and leading a cycling team 1700 miles around the Baltic Sea collecting 27,000 signatures for a cleaner Baltic, he has the scientific knowledge and people skills to manage diverse energy efficiency programs. He joined Abode to utilize his passion and background to help move New England residents towards clean heating technology. Whether providing consulting to a homeowner or facilitating the commissioning of clean heat technology with contractors, Christopher loves seeing the difference he can make in the community.

Continuing his passions outside of work Christopher enjoys combining travel, cycling, and landscape photography. When not on a bike or far afield, he spends most of his time trying new things and enjoying friends and family.

Christine Tyler

Operations Lead

Chris coordinates many of the administrative processes at our back office to keep things running smoothly. She enjoys helping contractors and their customers navigate the Mass Save ® program and serving as a resource for our own Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) interns. After years of experience in the non-profit and public sectors, Chris completed a B.A. in Environmental Science at UMass Boston. Her coursework there inspired her to dedicate the remainder of her career to organizations tackling climate change. She started at Abode as a MassCEC intern and couldn’t be happier about landing here!

Chris enjoys native gardening, has a houseplant obsession, and is usually in the middle of a novel or two. Through working with her sons’ Cub Scout pack and their school’s Green Team, she hopes to nurture a sense of connection with and stewardship for the natural world.

Harper Vinkemulder

Contractor Support Manager

As a lifelong, self-improving do-gooder, Harper is always striving for excellence and perfection in her role as she seeks to help others achieve their best as well. As the Support Manager, she creates and implements the support systems that enable the success of program participants and improves the customer experience throughout the efficiency improvement process. Her background as an energy specialist and technical review analyst serve as the foundation for her building science expertise. She has been in thousands of homes throughout her career, and she’s always happy to reach back into her experience to help people find the best building science solution for any problem encountered in the field.

When not improving homes as a profession, she’s often building them as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She is a committed activist on many topics, and she balances a variety of interest that often center around movement, music, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Mike Ostiguy

VP of Operations

With over 15 years of experience in the energy efficiency space, Mike brings a combination of real-world construction experience and a passion for building science and continuous learning. He spent years building and remodeling homes to meet stringent energy efficiency standards, performing energy audits, and consulting on residential and multifamily projects. He enjoys applying structure and order to business operations, with the goal of simplifying complex information and streamlining decision-making.

Mike is an environmentalist through and through. Three months after he and his wife welcomed their first child, he thought it would be a good time to begin a deep energy retrofit of their home. Don’t worry, everything worked out.

Mark Tempel

VP of Operations

Bringing nearly a decade of experience working as an HPC, Mark is an empathetic advocate and supporter of HPCs, knowing the challenges and opportunities they face when building a successful business. He spent years as an energy specialist and field manager before moving into operations management, growing multiple HPCs. He joined Abode for the opportunity to have a larger impact for families in New England by helping all HPCs succeed.

His passion for finding solutions to tough problems extends beyond Abode. When he’s not coaching his daughter’s soccer team or helping out with his son’s many activities, he’s taking on projects on his 120-year-old house

Mike Simons

Training & Development Manager

In leading Abode’s training and development programs, Mike seeks to help people find joy in their work as they employ sound building science concepts that enhance customer experience. Having helped multiple home performance contractors grow strong, thoughtful building analyst, Mike is focused on getting people to think the right way away about the complex and unique challenges every home has when making them more energy efficient. He joined Abode because he saw the opportunity to be a part of a team that is driving a shift in how our industry approaches customers and to increase the impact for families throughout New England.

He now spends his free time with his wife and kids playing outside and finding joy in nature in East Boston and beyond.

Ryan Keeth

Program Specialist

Ryan’s roles at Abode are ever evolving and he’s happy to wear many hats. His contributions include overseeing administrative processes, supporting contractors, conducting customer outreach, and optimizing back end systems to maximize Abode’s impact in the energy efficiency space.

Ryan graduated from Wesleyan University with degrees in Physics and Earth & Environmental Sciences, where he learned about residential energy efficiency’s crucial role in reducing human impacts on climate. He brings a fresh and motivated perspective to the team and is quick to provide his help wherever it’s most needed.

In his free time, Ryan is either enjoying the outdoors by hiking, biking, sailing, or rock climbing, or he’s holed up in his LEGO room building something new.

William D'Arrigo

Senior Energy Efficiency Consultant

Will’s roles at Abode focus on services to help homeowners and contractors move forward on a holistic range of decarbonization strategies. This includes work in the growing field of heat pumps with the goal of electrification. His 20+ year history in building and weatherization work helps make decisions to move forward a breeze.

Will graduated from UMASS Amherst with a degree in Building and Construction Technology, where he was exposed to courses in the energy efficiency industry. Will found the courses immensely interesting and learned practices that are now becoming standard although he still sees a lot more opportunities to find energy savings and improve construction practice. He also renovates apartments using the same building science principles that he encourages other contractors to use by installing insulation appropriately and conditioning the units with heat pumps.

In his free time, Will is often on 2 wheels He recently has been fixing up older Vespa scooters and enjoys early Sunday morning rides out to the trustees hiking spots around Massachusetts.

Melanie Shea

Residential Decarbonization Advisor

With an education in mechanical engineering, Melanie brings a wide range of experience to Abode. She has worked as a mechanical and commissioning engineer, a solar designer, and over a decade as a home energy auditor and HERS rater, performing over a thousand energy efficiency related inspections. With all those inspections came many opportunities to teach homeowners and contractors how to improve a home's comfort and performance. At Abode, Melanie continues that passion for teaching by providing heat pump consultations to help customers understand how they work and what may be the best solution for their home. She is excited to be a part of a team working toward helping communities electrify and decarbonize to reduce their impact on our environment.

Beyond her passions for energy efficiency, Melanie enjoys all things outdoors and spending time with family & friends. Camping is probably her favorite, she loves exploring and experiencing all that New England has to offer.

Arjun Mehra

Program Systems Coordinator

Arjun's role at Abode is all about the numbers and primarily involves setting up systems for the collection, management and distribution of sensitive data. His contributions include providing up to date analysis on program KPIs, automating internal workflows as well as authoring the Abode Newsletter.

Arjun graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Environmental Engineering, where he gained an interest in helping people reduce their personal energy consumption, thereby integrating sustainable practices into everyday life. His technical background allows him to support the rest of the team on the back-end, allowing them to maximize Abode's impact.

In his free time, Arjun can be found running along the Charles or obsessing over the English Premier League and Celtics.

Jim French

Field Inspector

Jim has been involved with environmentally-focused work for over three decades, beginning with a long stint in IT work for environmental consulting firms. When the recession hit, Jim pivoted to a new career and began doing energy audits. He enthusiastically joined the team when Abode was created.

Jim enjoys hiking and backpacking, which is no surprise given his pro-planet proclivities. There’s a lot of work to be done to clean up the Earth and make our societies more sustainable for future generations⁠—including Jim’s three daughters. With Abode, Jim is doing his part to pass down a better planet.

Nick Celularo

Field Inspector

Nick is no stranger to the Mass Save program. Prior to working for Abode, Nick received a degree in Building & Construction Technology and spent seven years working with home performance contractors (HPCs) and independent insulation contractors (IICs). During this time, he conducted countless home energy evaluations and quality assessments, which provided him with important firsthand experience.

Nick feels that working as an inspector with Abode encompasses many aspects of the Mass Save program, and he is passionate about helping and educating both contractors and homeowners. Furthermore, he enjoys the independence granted by determining much of his own schedule and spending his work days out on the road.

In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and dog, especially down at their Cape cottage during the summers. Nick and his friends like to attend game and trivia nights, play volleyball, basketball, and fantasy football.

Jason Denese

Field Inspector

Before joining the Abode team, Jason worked as a crew lead and field manager in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, which provided him with valuable experience in the Mass Save program. Jason applied to work at Abode because of its mission to help the environment as well as people. He had already met Dave and Travis at a previous job, but he didn’t realize that there were familiar faces at the company when applying. Discovering that Dave and Travis were responsible for founding Abode reinforced his desire to join the team of Quality Assurance Inspectors and make a difference in Massachusetts communities. How fortuitous!

Jason is a big sports fan and used to golf regularly, but in recent years his dad duties have taken precedence. When he’s not in the field, he loves to go to the beach or hike with his family and two dogs, Cosmo and Zelda.

Warren Stred

Inspector

Warren has done work in over five thousand homes in Massachusetts since he started working in the Mass Save program in 2011. Before coming to Abode, Warren received a business administration degree from Eckerd College in Florida and is currently working on his masters in sustainable design at Boston Architectural College.

Warren has been interested in the energy sector for much of his life, originally intending to work internationally on energy infrastructure in developing nations. Realizing that there are still many improvements needed to be made domestically, at Abode, Warren contributes to that progress by helping ensure that homeowners receive the best efficiency upgrades possible.

When he’s not inspecting, Warren designs artisan concrete works, many of which have been featured in galleries around Boston.

Terrance Bean

Residential Decarbonization Advisor

After years working in the microelectronics and computer hardware fields, Terry transitioned to a career in energy efficiency and sustainability. He has worked both in residential and commercial environments, providing quality services to property owners and residents, and guidance to contractor professionals. More recently, Terry has moved toward providing consultations on residential decarbonization solutions such as heat pumps. Providing guidance for efficiency and sustainability efforts continues to be his source of inspiration.

Beyond Abode, Terry enjoys working with his hands and playing on the water - in the lakes or on the waves.

Katie Koster

Intern

As a student at Boston University with a major in Environmental Policy and Analysis and a minor in Business Administration, Katie applies her knowledge from coursework with a passion for sustainability to her position here at Abode. Her role as an intern consists mainly of organizational work and research. You can find her scheduling inspection calls, organizing data sheets, or researching heat pumps.

Outside of Abode, Katie is on the Boston University Figure Skating team, so that keeps her pretty busy training year-round. She also enjoys hiking, going to the beach with friends, and trivia.

Hannah Martin

Intern

A recent Northeastern graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Law and Public Policy, Hannah is a hardworking, devoted new summer intern. In the past, she has worked as a Community Clean Energy Intern with MassCEC and an Agriculture Research Co-op with McKinsey & Co.

Hannah loves travel, food, and hiking/backpacking; her favorite cities are Berlin, Montreal, and D.C. and she will be serving as an Agroforestry Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal this fall.

Alex Sheehan

Intern

Currently studying Cyber Security at University of Massachusetts Lowell, Alex thrives when applying his knowledge to work through and resolve security oriented projects. IT Security and general IT assistance is how Alex works with Abode to improve both himself and the company, whether it is implementing new security measures or assisting in the deployment of new technology.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys his time in nature, and has a deep love for reading, usually combining the two into a joyful experience.

Tamir Nir

Residential Decarbonization Advisor

Tamir graduated from Pace University (NY) with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. He started his career in the energy efficiency field in Connecticut, where he was an insulation technician crew lead. Later on, he set up and ran the home energy audit division for that same company.

Upon moving to MA in 2018, he joined the Abode team with the desire to make a larger impact. Since transitioning out of his role as a Quality Assurance Inspector, he has taken on roles such as leading and implementing the Sustainable Essex Alliance Energy Solutions program, completing Manual J load calculations, heat pump consultations and more. He is a certified Building Analyst Professional, Envelope Professional, and Infiltration and Duct Leakage Expert through the Building Performance Institute, and is a certified Department of Energy Home Energy Score Mentor and Assessor.

In his free time, Tamir enjoys woodworking and spending time outside gardening, foraging and hiking with his wife and their dog Olive.

Jason Chamberlain

INSPECTIONS FIELD MANAGER

Affectionately known as the “Other Jason,”---wait. Actually, that’s the other Jason.

Before joining the field inspection team, Jason obtained seven years of insulation experience in the Mass Save program, first as an insulation specialist, and then as a crew lead for an independent insulation contractor (IIC). He was referred to Abode by one of his colleagues at the IIC, and since then, Jason has enjoyed working alongside crews to get the job done correctly and make sure that the customers are satisfied. Having been in the crew’s shoes before, he feels that the role of the inspector is important to provide support when a crew needs guidance or confirmation on the proper course of action. Each day is unique and keeps him on his toes, providing plenty of learning experiences.

When he’s not working, Jason is relaxing by vacationing, spending time with friends and family, or playing poker. You can always find him cheering on whichever Boston sports team is playing that day. Recently, he’s been to the Superbowl as well as the World Series---oh, the life of a Boston sports fan!

Matt Corona

RESIDENTIAL DECARBONIZATION SPECIALIST

Matt works on our Energize Connecticut program, managing our Home Performance Installer Network as well as guiding our clients with heat pump consultations. Matt graduated from Nazareth College in 2020 seeking to work on climate issues for people and the planet. His experience thus far has been in promoting building electrification and energy efficiency in the northeast.

A native of Connecticut, Matt is excited to be able to help his friends and neighbors adopt clean heating technology. You can find Matt spending time hiking in the mountains on his weekends.

A.J. Bates

Field Inspector

AJ started his career in construction right after high school. He spent years working in the Mass Save program, New Hampshire Saves program, and low-income programs. He worked as a crew lead before finding his passion for going green, which inspired him to become an inspector here at Abode.

Outside of work, AJ is an avid animal lover, who loves to hike with his wife and dogs. He also enjoys adventure, specifically snowboarding, traveling, and even skydiving!

Chris Sherman

FIELD INSPECTOR

Chris spent much of his early career in restaurant management, first working in a variety of front-line roles and then bringing that hands-on learning and strong communication skills to bear as a training manager. Prior to the pandemic, Chris became a crew lead for a leading Mass Save home performance contractor, and in his new role at Abode, he looks forward to helping to train and improve work done by the crews whose jobs he inspects.

In his spare time, Chris can be found working on his project car, spending time with family, and preparing for fatherhood.

Jaime Haber

FIELD INSPECTOR

Jaime brings more than 13 years of experience in Mass Save and other utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs to Abode. He has been an airsealing technician, conducted more than 4000 residential and commercial energy audits, and recently oversaw multiple trade-ally home energy rating companies in the Mass Save Residential New Construction programs. Jaime is also a RESNET-certified HERS Rater. One of the elements he enjoys most about his job is putting the technical into layman’s terms to make it more understandable.

When he’s not working for Abode, Jaime brings his environmental passion into his role on the Sustainability Committee for the City of Framingham. He is also an active licensed Realtor® – clearly he loves houses! Jaime also enjoys nature photography, planespotting, and attending car shows throughout New England.

Lea Anthony

OPERATIONS SUPPORT ASSOCIATE

Lea brings over 6 years of experience from a leading Mass Save home performance contractor, where she performed multiple roles both in the office and out in the field. She enjoys working with others to untangle road blocks and move customers forward in their journey to achieve energy savings. Lea earned her Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources Sustainability at Paul Smiths College where she developed a love for renewable technologies and energy efficiency.

When she’s not working, Lea enjoys volunteer work with the Special Olympics where she has coached for over 15 years. You can always find her staying active which usually involves going on adventures with her family and their energetic dog.

KATY ZIEMLAK

PROGRAM SPECIALIST

With a Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Katy found her passion for conservation and energy efficiency. She was an AmeriCorps volunteer for a land conservation trust in Western Massachusetts before moving to the city and finding the Mass Save program. Katy brings more than 4 years of hands-on experience conducting Mass Save energy audits for homeowners. She brings her expertise to Abode and reviews documentation to help speed the approval of weatherization projects.

When she’s not working, you can find her in the woods hiking with her Siberian Husky. Her love for travel and adventure has guided her towards skiing fresh snow and trying to conquer the highest peaks in the local area.

Justin Bolam

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Justin has worked in the Mass Save program for more than 6 years in roles ranging from performing home energy audits to ensuring quality to operations management. In his new role at Abode, he will serve as a point person helping to troubleshoot issues and ensure that home performance contractors get the support they need to provide the best possible service to Mass Save customers.

Outside of the office, Justin enjoys attending Boston sports games, enjoying live music, and checking out local breweries and food spots.

BRETT BUBAR

FIELD INSPECTOR

Brett joined Abode in 2022, bringing more than two decades of experience in roles ranging from Inspector to Foreman to Contractor and in building science specialties ranging from energy efficiency to roofing to general construction. He initially found the energy efficiency industry accidentally but quickly fell in love with the "going green" mentality and the opportunity to help homeowners improve their homes. When he’s not working, Brett enjoys landscaping around his home and has a passion for cooking & enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 boys and dog Luna.

Jason Bates

Operations Support Associate

Justin graduated from UMass Amherst with a bachelor's degree in Geology, gaining a deep appreciation for natural systems and geologic history. Tacking on another year to his schooling, Justin went on to earn a Masters in Education. Upon graduating, and looking to make a difference, he worked for two years as an environmental science teacher and a year as a campaign manager for a state politician. Throughout his life, Justin has advocated for a cleaner and greener future and so joined Abode to focus his career on implementing real-world solutions for change. In his free time, Justin enjoys cycling, kayaking, and cooking.

Luke works on the Energize Connecticut program. He is leveraging 8 years of experience in HVAC/R to manage contractor relations and provide clients with heat pump consultations. His hands-on experience with heat pumps provides an easy-to-understand perspective for homeowners' decarbonization & electrification goals. He holds HVAC/R licenses in both Connecticut & his native state of Iowa. In his free time, Luke & his wife enjoy spending time with their dog Tres as well as bike riding.

Program Specialist, Mass Save

Rick has been with the MassSave Program since 2011. As a residential Home Energy Auditor, he educated (his mom was a teacher) thousands of homeowners on energy efficiency to reduce their carbon footprint and help them to save money. He has also been an HPC Inside Sales and Home Energy Auditor Manager. He strongly believes in the Mass Save Program’s goal to help all Massachusetts residents become more energy efficient with equal access to program benefits. He joined Abode because of their passionate team focusing on Massachusetts and beyond.

Rick spends time outside Abode with his wife, three boys, daughter-in-law and granddaughter on Cape Cod and Vermont. He also loves doing remodeling projects on family homes.
