BELMONT LIGHT REBATES

As of April 1, 2022, any applications submitted for pre-approval with natural gas as the original heating fuel source will be eligible for an incentive of $350 per ton, with a cap of $2,500. Any gas customers that submit for pre-approval prior to April 1, 2022 will receive full incentive amount as previously stated. Rebates are also available through the Mass Save program for customers with gas heating service.

REBATE REQUIREMENTS

In order to qualify for a rebate, an outdoor condenser unit must be installed on a stand providing at least 12" of ground clearance to the base of the condenser unit (unless the unit is adequately shielded against snowfall from the top and sides).

In order to be eligible for a rebate through Belmont Light, the project must adhere to Abode’s review process.
There are four main steps to be aware of:

STEP 1: PRE-APPROVAL FORM (OPTIONAL)

Optionally, the Pre-Approval form can be completed by the contractor prior to installation. This form includes equipment information for the proposed heat pump system(s). Abode will verify whether the equipment meets the efficiency requirements to qualify for the MLP's rebate. If you wish to complete this step, please inform your installer.

STEP 2: ELECTRICAL PERMITS

The contractor must file for the relevant electrical permit(s) through the town of Belmont. Permits are requested through the Town of Belmont's Building Department.

STEP 3: INSTALL QA FORM
The Install QA Form must be completed after install by the contractor. In addition to requiring information on the home and the installed system(s), the form also requires a paid invoice and photos of the installed equipment.

STEP 4: REBATE APPLICATION
The online rebate application must be completed by the homeowner or contractor following install. The form will ask for utility account information and will also require a paid invoice and the installed system’s AHRI certificate(s), all of which can be obtained from the contractor.

$1,000 for customers that remove their old fossil-fuel based system or install an ASHP system while performing a gut renovation or during new construction. Removal must be at the same time as ASHP install, not at a later date (e.g. the following year)
